FLAGSHIP SITE

Prince George, BC.

Unlocking a greener future in British Columbia.

CO2 Lock is leading the way in carbon sequestration with a groundbreaking project near Bobtail Mountain Provincial Park. Harnessing the area's unique geology, this partnership will permanently lock away industrial CO2 emissions underground — helping fight climate change at scale.

PROJECTIONS

Starting small, the project will initially store hundreds of tonnes of CO2, scaling up to 1 million tonnes annually within 25 years.

Deep underground, brucite minerals react with CO2, turning it into solid rock and permanently storing — reducing the environmental impact of global carbon emissions.

CO2 Lock is working with regional partners, including pulp mills, refineries,  and other industrial emitters, to source emissions.

FLAGSHIP SITE

How it works.

Capture
CO2 is extracted from industrial sources using advanced CO2 capture technologies or directly from the atmosphere using scalable DAC technologies.

Transport
The purified CO2 is processed and delivered to the sequestration site.

Storage

Injected underground, CO2 reacts with brucite to mineralize, locking it away forever.

SITE FACTS

The successful CO2 injection demonstrated at our SAM site in 2024 highlights the immense potential of our Hard-Rock process — and its expected role in mitigating carbon emissions.

Stability

Zero seismic activity ensures safe, long-term CO2 storage.

Job Creation

Expected to generate significant employment opportunities.

Expansion Plans

Initial pilot launching in 2025, scaling up to 1 million tonnes of CO2 stored annually over 20 years.

Environmental Impact

This is not clear suggesting this: Carbon storage reduces industrial CO₂ emissions while also capturing atmospheric CO₂ making the project net-negative.

Location

50 km southwest of Prince George.

Size

5080 hectares.

Infrastructure

Uses existing road networks, with planned surface containers, pumps, pipelines, and drills.

Compliance

Engaged in the Ministry of Energy and Climate Solutions and BC Energy Regulator’s approval process, consulting with First Nations, local governments, and land users.
